Brotherhood

Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood provides a variety of support services to the Temple: High Holiday ushering, arranging social activities, and supporting and conducting fund-raising events. We have co-chaired the much loved progressive dinner, and this year we are helping arrange and fund the 30/50 celebration of both our Rabbi and the Temple. Our breakfast service at the Annual Membership meeting has been a much appreciated recent service.

The Brotherhood has been responsible for building the Sukkah annually, and preparing and serving both the annual Latke dinner and Italian dinner. We assist in organizing Temple activities and trips to sporting events. Members of the Brotherhood have been active in expanding the informal Summer picnics, and we always help with the Summer Outdoor Family Service and BarBQ. In the summer, the Brotherhood also sponsors Sunday softball that involves the whole Jewish Community.

Membership is open to all men in the Temple. There is no other requirement or dues. We serve bagels and coffee every Sunday morning in the social hall when the Religious School is in session - join us

For further information, please contact either co-president: Scott Zettler at 860-439-0676 or <scottzettler@gmail.com> or Alvin Sher at 860-460-0491 or <sherster@gmail.com>, or come by on Sunday morning.

Current Brotherhood Announcements

There’s a very full September ahead for us all. As all the men in the Congregation are Brotherhood members, we ask you to get involved, join us for coffee and a newspaper and conversation for the resolution of all the world’s issues, as well as sports.

Sunday Religious School starts at 9:30 am, September 12, immediately following Rosh Hashanah. As part of our usual contribution on those Sundays, we’ll be setting out coffee and bagels and other treats.

The following Sunday (the 19th), following Yom Kippur, in addition to our Sunday morning fare, we will be erecting the Sukkah. Sukkot services will follow later in the week.

Would you guys consider signing on to be a set up person (with our help, of course) for Sunday morning coffee and bagels, once every six weeks? If that’s too demanding for you late risers, come out on September 19 to help erect the Sukkah.

Get involved, no dues or application, and barely any one in charge; join us for camaraderie. Please feel free to contact Scott Zettler or Al Sher with ideas and suggestions or to help.
