Adult Education  

Temple Emanu-El encourages lifelong learning, and offers a growing number of adult education courses. Members have enrolled in Beginning Hebrew; Intermediate Hebrew, leading to adult B’nai Mitzvah; Basic Judaism; Bible study; Lunch and Learn, a current-affairs discussion; Torah trope, learning to chant passages from the Torah; Biblical Hebrew, and adult choir. We also schedule an annual Kallah, a seminar that includes prayer, study, singing, and discussion.

The institute for Adult Jewish Studies will accept registrations from 6:30-7 pm this Sunday, Jan. 10 at Temple Emanu-El, 29 Dayton Rd. in Waterford.  Classes, led by area rabbis, will be held from 7-8 pm.  After a 15 minute break, participants will all come together for a Community Forum beginning at 8:15.  The speaker for Sunday's forum is Professor Bernard Murstein from Connecticut College.  His topic will be "Of Schmattes and the Jewish Utopia in the Bronx.  Please find attached the complete schedule, with course offerings, Community Forums, and Registration form.
